Will Google Operate A Phone Service? | BVA INC. emPowering Your IT –

Google has confirmed – a Google phone service will soon be a reality. The company may become a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) and will most likely partner with a pre-existing carrier. Smaller carriers such as T-Mobile or Sprint are likely candidates.

According to Gartner analyst Bill Menezes, Google aims to offer services to customers that phone carriers haven’t offered before. Based on the Nexus phone family, which Google has worked on, the new features could combine hardware and service in unique ways.

Good news for consumers: Google Wireless could bring lower prices and better service tiers, as the success of Google Fiber rollouts seems to suggest.

Although Google hasn’t shared details yet, it promises to reveal more over the next few months.
