USB-C is a new and improved connector that is used to power the MacBook. It was developed by the USB Implementers Forum.
Yes, the USB-C is similar to the Micro USB. How? Well, if you take a glance at the Micro USB, they look very similar. Although the Micro USB is a bit thicker than the USB-C. Unlike the older USB cables we have been using, both cables have the same connector on both ends, so you don’t have to go through the trouble of figuring out which one is plugged in and which one is not plugged in.
This is also the USB 3.1, which is also faster than the 3.0. It is compatible electrically with USB 3.0 but it will not physically be plugged in without an adapter.
The Apple MacBook doesn’t come with any other adapters, just the charger and the USB-C. Other users will have to buy it separately. Apples USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter will be available for $19.
The USB-C connector for MacBook also supports Display Port, HDMI, power, USB, and VGA.
