In a weird and unexpected twist, pending approval, Dell has been sold off to Microsoft. Michael Dell will remain the largest shareholder at 16% and will continue to run the company. This brings a big question to recent things Microsoft has been trying to do. They may now use some of Dell’s hardware to incorporate into their surface computers. Dell is also going private. Why might one ask, well some of it has to do with the PC industry is dying a little bit with all of the tablets and other smart devices that are out there. Dell’s stock has steadily declined since 2005 and they are looking to make a move. Having the company private will also be good for Dell as they can work on new cutting edge products without shareholders breathing down there neck.
I’m excited to see what comes of it.
