With 3D printing becoming available to the masses, we are starting to see pretty interesting uses for it. Take for example Cody Wilson of Defense Distributed, who is two weeks away from being able to print out an entire handgun made of the ABS plastic that is used in the printing process. Once the gun has been completed and has been properly tested, it will become open source on the internet for download. Not sure if that is the best idea but it still is rather costly to be able to print this gun. They estimated about $20,000 with the plastic and 3D printer. Apparently in the past they have also printed a 30-round AR-15 magazine. I really think the uses of 3D printing are going to be endless once it becomes slightly cheaper.
